For me, water safety is a year-round passion...most people know of the basic water safety rules...however, I have a few additional water safety tips and tricks that I’ve learned along the way.

Have you heard of “Dry Drowning” and not sure what to make of it?!

How can you keep your child safer in the water? On average, more children suffer fatal injuries due to drowning than motor vehicle and bicycle accidents combined.

At Houston Swim Club, we like to spend some extra time during this week giving our students water safety tips and talking with them about what they can do to be safer around water!

We were all in the pool with them, so we grabbed them as soon as they went under the surface. But what if we had been chatting on the side of the pool? Or lounging on the deck with a phone? Or any other distraction that could take our attention away from them for even a minute?

We have laws to prevent children from accessing their parent's guns, laws for limiting the flammability of bedding, and even laws enforcing food makers to tell us what is inside a jar of mashed peas. But where are children most at risk?

How can you make your children SAFE in the water? You can’t.
