A former HSC swimmer, now a mom herself, shares her incredible story with us.
To Whom it may concern:
I would like to start off this letter by addressing the owners: Thank you. Because of you and your vision, I am here, alive, and starting my own family.
My parents tell a story of a time I had slipped under the pool cover at a friend's house. They were there having a fun get-together, and I disappeared. They couldn't find me, but once they did, I had sunk to the bottom of the pool holding my breath...like HSC had taught me. I was a toddler.
I grew up in the Houston area and every summer would attend swimming lessons at the original location. Back then, it was the only location.
I have very distinct memories of diving for rings, singing songs, having my ears tugged at, and lollipops. This was almost 25 or more years ago.
I swam there every summer until I was a teenager. I learned how to dive correctly, and how to competitively swim. I have never had fear of the water because, HSC taught us instinct: flip on your back.
I now live in an area of Texas that does not have a swimming culture.
Most areas available to families are not pools, but "park" pad type areas. The swimming culture just is not a thing here and that has always bothered me.
Back when my son turned 1, a family friend offered to pay for a summer jump class for him. I asked them if they would be willing to pay for swim lessons instead. It was agreed upon, so this summer, I packed my 2.5 year old son, and sent him 8 hours to Houston to learn how to swim.
He is currently taking courses at the Sugar Land location. I get daily updates from my mother on his progress. He is happy and having fun and is IN LOVE with Michael. I couldn't be more happy, or jealous that I cannot be there to watch my son learn to swim in the same ways I did.
Second generation of HSC swimmers!!! I wouldn't and couldn't send him anywhere else in the state.
Thank you. Thank you for saving my life. And thank you for saving my son's life too!

Students will be decorating our underwater Christmas Tree during class with glow rings Dec 16-21.
Mathias learned to swim in our program and as soon as he was old enough to apply we hired him on the spot.
