HSC uses several methods to clean and disinfect our pool water. These include mechanical filtration, chlorination, and UV filtration.
The technology dates back to the early 1900s, but it was only recently (1998) discovered that it also is extremely effective in destroying protozoa such as cryptopordium and giardia. Since then, UV water treatment in the US has become industry standard. Some states are mandating the use of this type of filtration in public pools. For example, New York recently required all water spray parks to utilize UV systems.
UV works by bombarding passing water with a high intensity germicidal ultraviolet ray that destroys algae, bacteria and viruses all in a matter of seconds. It is the most effective way of destroying disease causing microorganisms such as cryptosporidium, legionella and ecoli.
The highly concentrated electromagnetic energy also destroys organic matter such as dirt, urine and feces, and body matter, eliminating dangerous chloramines. Chloramines are what causes red eyes, skin irritations, and foul odors.
