Spreading the Message of Water Safety

HSC visited Little STEM Academy to spread the message of water safety to their students.

We don't just teach water safety in the pool, we teach it everywhere! Houston Swim Club (and our amazing staff) regularly visit schools, daycares, mom's groups, and other organizations to spread the message of staying safe in and around the water.

Just ask the kids at Little STEM Academy in Pearland, where we recently sat down with groups of their students! Ms Tammy and Howey (our mascot) spent some time showing them the Safer 3, an education curriculum created by Stop Drowning Now.

Stop Drowning Now is an educational resource for people working to eliminate drowning in their community. It teaches how to recognize hazards around a pool, what to do when there's an emergency, how to wear a lifejacket, and more, all using colorful examples that kids can relate to.

We know how important it is to spread the message. Thousands of people in the US drown in non-boat related accidents every year, and one-in-five of those victims are children under the age of 14. The number of children who are hospitalized for drowning-related injuries is 5 times that amount!

We take drowning prevention seriously!

The children at the discussion were super engaged and had plenty of great questions. We gladly hop on our soap box to spread the word every chance that we get!

This is why we do what we do!
