Was a Huge Success!

7,777 lengths were swam - over 111 miles! |
Our first annual 24-hour Laps 4 Life Swim-A-Thon was a huge success! From 1pm Saturday, August 14 – 1pm Sunday, August 15 over 150 Houston Swim Club employees swam and volunteered their time to help make it happen! Employees collected pledges from family, friends, and HSC patrons during the weeks leading up to the event. They then swam laps consistently over the 24-hour period in honor of the pledges received. The total number of lengths swam was 7,777, which equals over 111 miles!!!
All proceeds from the event were given to the Swim for Life Foundation. The mission of this national organization is to enrich the lives of all people by promoting the life-long benefits of swimming for safety, health, fitness and recreational enjoyment. Their vision is to bring about a reduction in the number of drowning events with the Safer 3 Program, and to support research, education and programs that promote swimming and water safety.
We are extremely pleased to announce that we raised a total of $8716.76!!! We are confident that this donation will enable the Swim for Life Foundation to continue their mission in drowning prevention awareness and water safety. Swimming is not only a wonderful sport, but also a lifesaving skill that will benefit children for the rest of their lives. We are so grateful for the opportunity to continue making a difference in the aquatic life of each and every child!
